John F.S. LaingJohn F.S. Laing
C.E.O.

John Laing created Rigel Entertainment in 1992 as a company to finance, produce, and distribute worldwide television and feature film programming.  Since his creation of the company, Laing has executive produced such popular programming as the new Action/Adventure franchise MAX HAVOC with two titles: Curse of the Dragon and Ring of Fire, 13 MARY HIGGINS CLARK films made for the PAX television network, UNIVERSAL SOLDIER II and UNIVERSAL SOLDIER III for Showtime Entertainment, and the new popular comedy feature BLONDE AND BLONDER starring Pamela Anderson and Denise Richards.

Prior to starting Rigel, Laing developed the international division at Orion Pictures as the company’s Senior VP of International Operations before being appointed President of the newly formed division of Orion Pictures, Orion Television International. Laing’s division became the driving force at Orion supplying $250 million in cash and $500+ million in sales from inception to the Dec. 11, 1991 Orion bankruptcy filing.

Laing began his entertainment career at Warner Brothers Television Distribution, where he quickly rose to Vice-President in 1985, with responsibilities for worldwide major markets including US, Europe, Australia and Japan.  Laing worked in the domestic market both in the Midwest and West selling syndication rights to theatrical and TV movies, off-network and first-run product.

Laing is a graduate of Yale University.  He is also a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the International Emmy Council and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
